Something like a pirate movie...

Lately, a lot of my shots (as if I have large archive of photos... *grin*) have been from Canon beach. Since I have no recent photography other than this, and some archives, I'm exhausting my shots from these rolls. But hey! No loss to me! I was quite lucky to get quite a bit of blog-worthy from this trip.
Haystack rock - pictured in the background - is a popular subject for a lot of photographers. I wanted to find ways to capture it without necessarily framing it, or making it the subject. This one I was particularly pleased with. My wife was the one who suggested the idea for it though. So she deserves some credit.

Faithful Friend

The Oregon coast truly is serene. I was standing on the beach, and there were some die-hard surfers out in the water trying to catch a good wave on a stormy afternoon. Then I looked over and saw this dog. It would pace back and forth, constantly looking out to sea. When one of the surfers would start walking in, it would bound forward into the surf about 10 yards, and then retreat back when it saw that said surfer was not its master.
I couldn't help but photograph the dog. It was a wonderful moment... and the shot didn't turn out so bad either.

Trusty Hat

A funny background story behind this hat: I had one of the last brown plaid and suede Puma hats sold. Plaid quickly grew to become one of my favorite styles, and after a year and a half of wearing the hat nearly every day, I left it tragically on a plane.
So obviously, getting a new hat was a rather emotionally charged experience. (Pathetic...I know.) It was like getting a new puppy for Christmas, after my old trusty dog got hit by a car the previous summer. (My wife found it on sale, and forced me to buy it. So...similar to a puppy at Christmas I guess...) Well...like most 6 year olds eventually warm up their puppies, I warmed up to my new hat, and take it every where I go. Including shoots...
