Sunsets and Silhouettes

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything. I decided to post some of the black and white shots that I've gotten. I know that technically there is nothing different in terms of specs with color or black and white film, but I always seem to get shots with b/w that I can't get with color film.

I thought I would start a black and white series for a while, since I have a stash of unposted b/w shots. :-)

Yes...I'm still cycling through some pictures from Canon beach. You're welcome...

My mother in-law said this belonged on calendar somewhere... I hoped it was that good, but somehow doubt it. I did however like the contrast of the green against the grayish background.

"You have lovely wife... they're both very pretty."

Two points for whoever can name the movie the title comes from.

Now I'm not bragging (well actually I am), but I have the most beautiful wife in the world. I can't help photographing her just about wherever I go.

As for this one. I think these two turned out particularly well for her. She's so lovely.

Kill Da Wabbit, Kill Da Wabbit....

For those who don't know the inside joke with the title... that's probably good. It means you don't watch too much Loony Tunes... If you're curious, See Google

The framing of this shot is to redeem myself for centering the subject in the birdhouse picture. I kinda liked it. I was busy shooting something serious when I looked down and saw...low and behold, a rabbit in the yard of someone's house. I guess this is commonplace on the Oregon coast. I mean...I've heard of putting cows, goats, and sheep in the yard to keep the grass trimmed...but.....rabbits...?

...THE COLOR BLUE!

This was one of the coolest birdhouses I've ever seen. I couldn't resist getting a shot of it. I know I broke the rule of centering the subject...but. I'm not sure how else you would have known it was a birdhouse it I got too artsy with the framing...

Rocky Beach

Again... God's majesty is amazing.

I'm not sure I'll ever grow tired of trying photograph beaches. I particularly liked this one because of the contrast between the beach, rocks, and the blue sky.

Wain Wain Go Away...

I think the art of photography is dying. I had to adjust, and adjust, and adjust for this shot. Lengthen the expose, fix ISO....and then I had to wait a week to see how it turned out. I think every photographer should have to shoot in 35mm for a while before they're allowed to get digital. It's getting too easy these days.

So is it the shot of the year? No. But I was relatively pleased with how it turned out.

Marian and I got stuck in a shop during one of the many cloudbursts that the Northwest U.S. gets. One thing I got by accident was the seemingly grumpy gentleman on the other side of the street that has a "Rain Rain Go Away" air about him...

Enjoy!
